Industrial Site in Huntsville Designated an EDDPA AdvantageSite

HUNTSVILLE, ALA., February 11 – The Jetplex Industrial Park, located at the Port of Huntsville, has received AdvantageSite designation for a large site known as Jetplex 92 South.

The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, and infrastructure status. Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.

The Jetplex 92 South site is a 92-acre site located approximately 4.8 miles from Interstate 565. The site can be accessed by Wall Triana Highway, a 4 lane highway that is adjacent to the east boundary of the site. All utilities are either at the site or adjacent to the property.

AdvantageSite is a teamwork approach between the private sector and state and local governments geared toward having prepared product and materials ready for industrial prospects. The program is jointly sponsored by the Alabama Department of Commerce, Spire, Alabama Power Co., the North Alabama Industrial Development Association, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, and coordinated by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. Representatives from each of the entities actively participate in application reviews and on-site visits to prospective AdvantageSite designees.

“Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority plays a pivotal role in spurring economic development in the state of Alabama,” said Rick Tucker, CEO for the Port of Huntsville. “We engage with our partners across the region and the state to ensure that Alabama remains competitive for new industry in the global arena. Teamwork like this resulted in this site at Jetplex Industrial Park being selected by the AdvantageSite review committee as a certified AdvantageSite. This designation will certainly be an enormous asset in the recruitment of new industry to Jetplex Industrial Park at Huntsville International Airport. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts in securing this designation and for partnering with the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority in our quest to continue to move North Alabama forward.”

AdvantageSites are featured on EDPA’s buildings and site database, the statewide database of industrial buildings and sites used by site selection consultants, state economic developers, and companies looking to expand in Alabama. AdvantageSite is a voluntary industrial site preparedness program created in order to make the state more competitive for companies considering a location in Alabama.
