Safety Management Systems (SMS) Coordinator

Salary Range: ($56,435 – $84,656)

The Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority is accepting applications for the position of Safety Management System (SMS) Coordinator. Duties include regulatory inspections of airport facilities, identification and review of safety hazards, and other duties to ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 139 Subpart E – Airport Safety Management System. Position monitors, develops, updates, and coordinates the Airport’s SMS Program to ensure all four SMS Pillars are effectively implemented – Policy, Promotion, Risk Management, and Assurance. Duties include conducting site visits on airport facilities under the SMS Program and follows up on hazards reported and develops reports on findings and assessments conducted.  Position is also responsible for review of construction plans and drawings and submitting comments for the benefit of overall airport operations as well as coordinating construction and special operations projects with airside and landside operations to minimize customer disruption and ensure Safety Risk Assessments have been completed.

A bachelor’s degree in business, aviation Management Safety (Aviation Management or Aviation Safety emphasis) preferred. Two to four years’ experience in airport operations or an aviation safety specific role preferred.
