PLANNING FOR GROWTH & CONNECTIVITY

Huntsville International Airport Master Plan

In 2020, Huntsville International Airport completed its updated Master Plan, approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This document serves as the airport’s blueprint for long-term development and reflects months of collaboration with community leaders, business owners, and residents. Together, participants shaped a shared vision for the future of the airport, aligning with local, state, and national goals.

Master Plan Objectives

The Master Plan establishes guidelines for efficient airport development and resource use while addressing aviation demand in a financially feasible manner. Key goals include:

  • A graphic representation of existing and future airport features and land use.
  • A realistic schedule and financial plan for development implementation.
  • Validation of the plan on technical, economic, and environmental grounds.
  • Adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Establishing a framework for ongoing planning processes.

As we look to our future as an airport, we look to the bright future of our region as one of the most robust economic engines in the U.S. We value our role in its development, and our Master Plan reflects our intentions to grow and prosper as we keep pace with our exceptional community.
